Step inside Pippbrook House, Dorking’s Grade II* Victorian mansion by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Explore ornate interiors and discover the lives of past residents through a new exhibition.

Pippbrook House in Dorking is a Grade II* listed Victorian mansion, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Built in 1856 and rich in architectural detail, the house has lived many lives - from private residence and museum to council headquarters and town library. Now, following recent restoration work, visitors have a unique opportunity to step inside and witness its revival.

Guests can explore Pippbrook House’s ground floor interiors, admire intricate wood carvings and decorative plasterwork, and learn about the building’s layered past.

Using newly researched material, a brand-new exhibition will reveal the colourful everyday histories of the inhabitants, both upstairs and downstairs. It will shed light on the industries and stories of the surrounding streets, which grew up to serve the local estates and their wealthy owners.

Please note open access is for the special exhibiton and ground floor only, see separate entry for details of bookable tours to view the upstairs rooms.
