Place House Hall Tudor Open Day
Place House, Bluecoat Yard, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 9HL
Place House Hall dates from around 1300 and was the original manor house of Ware. Often in Royal ownership, in 1513 the Hall was given to Lady Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, who was governess and godmother to Princess Mary. Mary was the only daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, and later became Queen. We'll be exploring everyday life in Tudor times, with dressing up for children and their adults, a typical "meal" at the Tudor table, and we'll be making a nosegay to keep us smelling sweet. You can also do some colouring and practice your medieval spelling in a stamped hornbook. Grown-ups without children are also welcome and there will be a chance to discover more about the history and architecture of this truly historic building over a cup of tea and homemade cake.
