Plainchant workshop

Plainchant workshop at St Mary Crowned in Glossop, Saturday 12th September, 1400 to 1545, free event, donations welcome. Plainchant, or plainsong, is an ancient and beautiful form of singing. In this practical workshop, we will explore how it differs from modern singing styles and discover the basic rubrics for singing chant. We will also look at some of the ways in which we use plainchant in our churches here in Glossop. Please bring a pen or a pencil. And you may want to bring some water to drink – there will be plenty of opportunities to sing! Find details and book a place below.

The church is also open from 1400 to 1600 for heritage visitors who do not want to join in the workshop.

There is limited parking around the church as the roads are narrow and residential. There is a carpark at the school adjacent to the church which will be open. The building is accessible for wheelchairs.
