Prayer & Education Centre of St Ives & Hunts

38 Broadway, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 5BN

  • 13 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Visitor access is to the Mosque entrance and public hall. There is no admittance to the prayer area. The colourful tiles as you enter represent the most important cities: at the top left is Medina, top right is Mecca.

The Prayer & Education Centre is one of the two Mosques in St Ives serving the community in the town and surrounding area.
Built in 1891 it is on the site of the Unicorn Inn and has been a meeting place for many different groups in the past. It has been a Non-Conformist Meeting Room, Commemoration Hall, Constitution Hall, Victory Institute, Literary Institute and Reading Rooms, North Hunts Constitutional Club, and now a Muslim Prayer & Educational Centre for St Ives and Huntingdon.

The two columns of tiles would normally be outside a Mosque. However as this is not possible with this building, the tiles are inside.

Additional information

This is one of two Mosques in St Ives. It opened in 2005 in the former Commemoration Hall and serves a community from the surrounding area. Built in 1891 it was originally given to the members of the North Hunts Constitutional Club by Lord de Ramsey. There is an interesting display of plaques that indicate the standing of the users of the building in the late 1800s.
