PRESTON MASONIC HALL - 250 YEARS OF FREEMASONS IN PRESTON

PRESTON MASONIC HALL, SAUL STREET, PRESTON, Lancashire, PR1 2QU

  • 13 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Architecture is in the DNA of Freemasons. Our origins lie with the Medieval Stonemasons who planned, designed and erected magnificent structures that endure to this day. The Hall has many features of architecture and local history - a living museum

This is an Access to All Areas tour of Preston Masonic Hall allied to an exhibition featuring the architecture of Preston, past and present developed by Preserving Prestons History as well as other local artists and photographers.
Instruments of architecture abound in the Masonic Lodge Rooms with fascinating tales to tell about them. The rooms are colourful and full of History. Seek out the amazing Lodge Banners where you will find beautifully embroidered images of many famous Preston Buildings, some long gone like the old Town Hall. See the 200 year old furniture that is still in full use to this day.
The building is a wonderful example of 1950s architecture with an 1860s school in the heart.
The Ballroom alone is a sight to behold with the only sprung dancefloor in Preston. This space will be used to curate a free exhibition by Preserving Prestons History and local artists and photographers.
Fascinating images of Preston Past will also be found in the Doric Lounge, including the tip of the minute hand from the Town Hall Clock that burned down in 1947.
Our fully licenced bar will be open serving hot a cold drinks as well as bar snacks - why not have lunch with us.
Preston Masonic Hall is directly opposite the new Animate Cinema Complex on Ringway. It is easily accessed from the Market and the building sits between the Magistrates and Combined Courts.
Open from 10.00am till 4.00pm
