Quayside Consequences - creative collage and drawing drop-in workshop

Custom House, The Quay, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4AN

  • 14 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Join the Art Work Exeter team in an imaginative exploration of Exeter quayside's historic and contemporary architecture. This drop-in event is open to all ages. No experience needed to join in.

Quayside Consequences is an imaginative game of creative exploration and collision that will bring the many different pasts, presents and potential futures of Exeter Quayside together in a large-scale, collaborative artwork.

Exeter quayside's historic architecture holds echoes of the labour, stories and ideas that shaped the fortune of the city as it grew from the artery of the River Exe. The Quay’s reinvention during the late twentieth century as a social space and recreational hotspot, has brought another, very different layer of relevance and purpose to the area.

Our image will be made using collage and drawing, produced in sections throughout the day like a game of ‘consequences’ - with each section being worked on separately to the others and assembled as a whole at the end of the day. The finished work will be displayed at the Custom House throughout the Heritage Open Days.

No experience in collage or drawing is needed to participate. This drop-in event will be open throughout the day to stay as long as you like.
