Quincey's Pumping Station
Quincey's Pumping Station, Culvert Road, Thorpe Culvert, Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, PE24 4NJ
Quincey’s Pumping Station at Thorpe Culvert was restored by a dedicated group of volunteers from 1994, after the introduction of an electric station in the 1970s, this reduced the reliance on the original diesel engines. Supported by the Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board and led by Dennis Quincey, the team worked to return the engines to working order to provide emergency backup during power failures, which they successfully did on several occasions. Renamed in Dennis Quincey’s memory, Quincey’s Pumping Station, has continued to play a vital role, most notably when volunteers restored it to full operation within four days after severe flooding in 2019. Come along and discover how this historic pumping station still makes a difference today.
