Railway History Told Through Posters

Crewe Heritage Centre, Vernon Way, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2DB

Join Michael Willmot for an illustrated talk on the history of social and technological development told through railway art.

From the earliest days of rail travel, poster advertising was used to encourage people to take the train. Through the artwork of, and captions on, such posters we can catch a glimpse of not just the advances in engineering and in design, but also the contemporary social concerns addressed in the advertising slogans. But if you are not so interested in the history there is much to admire in the work of a glittering array of artists and poster designers stretching over a 180 year period.

Join Michael Willmot at Crewe Heritage Centre for an illustrated talk on the history of social and technological development told through railway art. The talk will last approximately one and a half hours with time for questions.

Places are free but admission is by prebooked ticket only as numbers are limited.
This talk is supported by North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership, Crewe Town Council and Crewe Heritage Centre.
