Regency Remedies
The Regency Town House, 13 Brunswick Square, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN3 1EH
Join Penelope Bateman for a living history display and talk on health and remedies in the late 18th and early 19th century. Penelope's display includes simple homemade herbal remedies which are based on recipes and ideas from the period - remedies that would be made at home for everyday complaints as part of the annual pattern of domestic life.
Penelope explores historical approaches to illness and ways of obtaining relief, showing various methods of using and preserving herbs and plants and demonstrating the practical uses of some of the equipment that might be available in the home - along with some rather more unusual items!
