Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre Open Days
Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre, Station Road, Ridgmont, Bedfordshire, MK43 0XP
Discover the story of the restoration of the Heritage Centre, those who lived & worked at Ridgmont Station and the history of the Marston Vale Railway Line (Bletchley – Bedford - celebrating its 180th anniversary later in 2026). A Share Your Story project is taking place during Heritage Open Days through which visitors are invited to share their memories of the line, community and stations.
The Line was engineered by Robert Stephenson and opened in 1846; the first to reach Bedford and for much of its life serviced the vast brickworks in the area. Now a thriving Community Rail Line at the heart of the East - West Rail Scheme to reconnect Oxford back to Cambridge.
Ridgmont Station House was largely redundant for over 40 years. It opened to the public as a Heritage Centre in 2014 following an extensive restoration.
Family Quiz and Puzzle Booklet available to purchase from the Gift Shop. Symbol Spot Trail for children aged five and over. Collect your free pack from the Gift Shop with a valid train ticket.
Refreshments (hot & cold drinks, homemade cakes & scones & cream tea - including savoury option) served in the former Ladies Waiting Room. Outside seating available in the Community Garden.
There are a variety of circular & linear walks from the Heritage Centre.
