Ringwood Meeting House & History Centre Association-Open Day
Ringwood Meeting House & History Centre, 22 Meeting House Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire, BH24 1EY
The Ringwood Meeting House was built in 1727 by a local group of Presbyterian dissenters. It is now the only dissenting Meeting House in Hampshire to survive from the period before 1800 in a virtually unaltered state. The survival of its original box pews has gained the building its Grade II* Listing in recognition of its outstanding national merit. This is a chance to visit our wonderful community social building showcasing many of the facilities that we have to offer. The galleries house a permanent exhibition depicting the history of Ringwood. A vast collection of old local photographs and other historical information is available to view in our History Centre Archives. We also have in-house static displays including a scale model of the fondly remembered Ringwood Railway Station alongside a visual display unit showing an audio / video of local people with their memories. Our Monthly Exhibitions cover local points of interest from local contributors under the themes of People, Places, & Events in the history of Ringwood and close by area.
