Routes to Roots
Dereham Station, Station Road, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1DF
Routes to Roots explores our stations histories as we tell the story of the people who from 1846 served their communities, working on, living in or being connected with the railway line from County School to Wymondham and beyond. Meet the Station Masters, Porters, Signalmen who worked on the line as they tell their stories through time, re-created by our wonderful volunteers, researched with help from our partners "Findmypast". Perhaps you might like to come dressed for the occasion, you never know you may asked to help send the train off down the line, clip a ticket or sound the horn. There will be an exhibition in the marquee telling some of the stories from our past and if you have a railway tale to tell let's add it to our collection. Our track maintenance team will have a then & now display available for you to investigate on the platform and there will be plenty of other activities for you to engage in throughout the day. Come and join us for a fun packed day of railway living histories.
