11.30 am Massed Morris Dancers
The Morris Dancing team of King’s Lynn, the King’s Morris was formed in 1978. Like most modern teams, they are a revival side; a team formed in a town that does not have a tradition of Morris Dancing. Dances are from the Bledington, Fieldtown, Bampton, Badby, Bucknell and Adderbury ‘traditions’.
13.15 pm Pearl in the Egg brings the sounds of the medieval and Tudor worlds vividly to life through authentic performances on period instruments including harp, lyre, rebec, shawms, bagpipes and recorders. Performing in historically researched costume, the duo combines music, song and dance to recreate the atmosphere of courts, taverns and marketplaces from centuries past. They have appeared for organisations including English Heritage, National Trust and Historic Royal Palaces, delighting audiences with programmes ranging from Anglo-Saxon and medieval music to lively Tudor dance tunes.
14.45 pm The King’s Lynn u3a Shanty Singers started singing together in April 2023. They sing a broad range of shanties and songs of the sea and enjoy sharing their origins. They thoroughly enjoy singing together and encourage audiences to join in with choruses, believing that singing is good for us all. They sing mainly at community and social events in and around King’s Lynn, raising money for charity.
