Come and discover the streets and buildings that have survived and photographs of those that have long disappeared in this fascinating exhibition put together in partnership with Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre.
Affectionately known as "Bottom End" to locals, the Old Town retains its historic maritime charm. Its narrow, winding streets like Eastborough and Quay Street house traditional pubs, independent shops, and the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre. The Old Town has also survived darker chapters, including bombardments by German battlecruisers in World War I, and retains rich literary connections, most notably housing the grave of Anne Brontë at St Mary's Church.
