Scissors Paper Stone - Lost and Found Exhibition

Heritage Open Days at St John’s Church, Ranmoor invites visitors to explore the history of the original church building and the community that grew around it. The events form part of the Scissors Paper Stone community history project, which investigates the origins of St John’s Church in Ranmoor — including the people who built it, the Victorian community that founded it, and the generations of people it served. Visitors can discover newly uncovered research through talks, art displays, church trails, and refreshments during the September open days.

Saturday 12 September, 4pm — St John’s Church
“The First St John’s – Uncovering What Was Lost”
A free talk by Margaret Bennett and Val Hewson about the original St John’s Church and what has been rediscovered about its history.
After the talk, visitors can enjoy:

The art displays, trails, and refreshments will also be available on:
* Tuesday 15 September, 2–4pm
* Wednesday 16 September, 10am–12pm
* Thursday 17 September, 2–4pm

We have a toilet on site; however, access involves two small steps. Accessible toilets are available across the road in the Parish Centre. We are currently fundraising for our *SOS (Save Our Spire)* project, which includes: * a new kitchen area * improved toilet facilities * new vestries * essential repairs to the church spire.
