A rare opportunity to visit Winkhill Mill and peek into a traditional Stoke-on-Trent tile manufactory. Visitors will also be able to explore a special exhibition of stunning encaustic tiles and unusual studio ceramics.

The Firing Line produces dust pressed tiles using traditional techniques and 100 year old cast iron machinery. Visitors will be able to look into the production space from a 'viewing area' and see the presses, tiles (on drying racks) and kilns.

Please note: There will be two guided ‘Factory Tours’ will be offered at 12:00noon each day. However, places are limited and booking is required (please see our separate HODs ‘Factory Tours’ listing for more details and a booking link).

The exhibition called 'Shared Stories Vol 2' is a mix of exquisite encaustic tiles and unusual studio ceramics created and curated by artists Danny Callaghan (Ceramic City Stories) & Craig Peebles (Welby & Wright). The work reflects their long creative collaboration driven by a shared love for tiles and architectural ceramics.
