Sir Charles Anderson was born into a life of privilege, yet retained a sense of social justice throughout his life. All his years were devoted to serving society within his structured view of Victorian Britain. Sir Charles was a Justice of the Peace, antiquarian, writer and devoted churchman who commissioned and funded major alterations at Lea Church by the young architect that would later go on to build Truro Cathedral. His lifetime would span an enormous expanse of social change, and included significant personal tragedy. In his younger years, Sir Charles travelled the Baltic twice in search of his Nordic ancestry which contributed towards some important research into Lincolnshire history. A journey, that has been recently undertaken by the presenter. Despite his achievements, Sir Charles is largely unknown outside his family name connections today. Find out more about his half-forgotten story on this exclusive, one-off free event (limited numbers).
