Step into the past for a stroll around Lancaster's oldest town house with our special Washing Day. Drop by our historic courtyard to look behind the scenes at servant life and hear some hidden secrets. Don't forget our famous Pop Up Tea Room!

Step back in time and find out if you have what it takes to work 'below stairs'.

Before washing machines and running water, doing the laundry was a full day marathon of heavy lifting, scrubbing and soap. This weekend for Heritage Open Days, our historic Wash House and Courtyard comes to life and we need your help to get scrubbing!

Plus we have family activities and our famous Pop-Up Tea Room run by the Friends of Lancaster Judges Lodgings.

Alongside the above, there will be pre-bookable behind-the-scenes tours; please see separate event entry for more details (event listing coming soon!)

These events are made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players.
