St Andrew's North Swindon - Everyday Histories
St. Andrews Church, Tadpole Lane, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN25 2DW
Join us to discover the history of the church, the stained glass, and the local people who lived, worshipped and died here.
St Andrew’s is a small Grade II* listed building, dating back to the 13th century but largely renovated by architect William Butterfield in the 1860s. It contains some excellent examples of Victorian and 20th century stained-glass windows. Although it is now surrounded by modern housing estates, being set off the main road down a track, it retains a prayerful tranquillity and is surrounded by a spacious churchyard where many generations of local families are buried.
Local historians specialising in the church's history, the stained-glass, the churchyard, and the stories of the families buried there will be joining us to give talks on the day and answer questions. There will be activities for children and families. Refreshments will be available all day.
The church is not just a historic building, but continues to be a worshipping community serving the parish of North Swindon. We worship every Sunday at 10am and at other times during each month. You will find more details of these events and others in the life of our church on our website. www.nschurch.org.uk

There are two doorways into the church, both of which have a shallow external step. The north door is wide, with steps down into the building, and a handrail. The west door is narrow, but the internal floor is level. A portable ramp is available to access stepped areas. There is a small car park reserved for disabled parking. Some parts of the churchyard have steep embankments; however, there are alternative level routes around the grounds.
