St Augustine’s Abbey, one of Canterbury’s World Heritage Site, will open their doors on Saturday 19th September for Heritage Open Day.

Founded in AD 598 by St Augustine himself, this historic abbey marks the rebirth of Christianity in southern England. A cornerstone of the Canterbury World Heritage Site, it was the 6th-century home of a mission to convert the Anglo-Saxons and grew into a major centre of learning and spirituality for centuries. Visitors can explore its remarkable ruins and imagine the abbey’s fascinating past—it may even have been the birthplace of the Bayeux Tapestry.
