St. Cuthbert’s Church, Etherley (DL14 0HT)
St. Cuthbert’s Church, Church Street, High Etherley, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, DL14 0HT
Come and enjoy looking around this listed building, consecrated in 1832. See how we have made some adaptations to the church to enable a variety of community activities. We have a lot of information available about the history of the church and people available to answer questions. For people interested in finding relatives buried in the churchyard, we have an old map of the graves to peruse. Find out about the strange holes in some of the gravestones!
We are borrowing 2 displays from the Westhill Faith Exhibition - Holy Writ, a stand-alone multi-faith textile, and Words from the Cross - words and paintings centred around the events of Good Friday to stimulate discussion.
For children, we will have a Fairy Doors Saints Trail in the churchyard with small prizes for those who find all the saints’ names, and a nature trail with resources such as ID guides and children’s binoculars.
Refreshments will also be available throughout the day.
