St Denys' Heritage Days
St Denys' Church, Rotherfield, Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 3FD
We warmly invite you to visit and explore our medieval church and discover its beautiful wall paintings, stained glass, carved roof bosses, Norman font and Victorian box pews and pulpit.
Local schools, art and craft groups will be exhibiting examples of their work, themed around 'Architecture', as well as photographs and archive material of Rotherfield and Mark Cross villages and neighbouring Crowborough. Hands-on activities will be available for both children and adults.
We are offering tours of this ancient village church and its tower, subject to availability. Self-guided tours for children and families will also be available.
On Wednesday (17th) and Thursday (18th), join us in the afternoon to further celebrate the 'Architecture' theme with Sam, who will be bringing empty beehives, which will be on display - see all the tools used to collect honey and listen to a short talk on bees and beehives.
On Saturday (20th), join us throughout the day with our local potter, Deborah, and get hands-on making bricks from locally sourced clay - all bricks that are made will be used to create a bug hotel in the churchyard.
Teas, coffees, cakes and light lunches will be available every day in the church refreshment area.
