St George's Church, Brockworth
St George's Church,, Roman Way (off Court Road), Brockworth, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL3 4QU
Built 900 years ago by the first resident Norman Lord of the Manor, Roger de Chandos, in 1142, it is one of the earliest Anglican parish churches in England to be dedicated to St George. The church site may date back to Saxon times and has witnessed centuries of village life, from medieval
farming communities to the famous cheese rolling on nearby Cooper’s Hill. Much of the building was restored during the Victorian era, while later improvements have carefully preserved the church for future generations and it was Grade I listed in 1955.
