St George's Crypt is an ever evolving homeless charity, offering food, shelter, rehabilitation, saving lives of vulnerable people in Leeds. Since it opened in 1930 the doors have never closed, with support 365 days a year.

St George's Crypt is a lifeline for those who are the most vulnerable in the city of Leeds. The charity aims to meet the needs of Leeds and take people from chaos to citenzenship, changing their lives forever. From providing emergency accommodation to those sleeping on the streets, the charity is committed to meet the needs of Leeds. Reverend Don Robins was devastated by the effects of the great depression in 1930 and turned St George's Church's Crypt into a temporary night shelter, offering a cup of hot coco and a bed for the night. Since then, a lot has changed. St George's Crypt has evolved to provide a range of essential services, including physiotherapy, hot showers, educational skills, opticians, dental care and wellbeing activities. Alongside emergency assistance at our care centre, we also run a 12 month residential rehabilitation programme, Growing Rooms, which helps those battling drug/alcohol addiction become clean and begin a transformed life.
