  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

In addition to 54 war memorials rescued from loss, on Saturday 13th at noon, David Humberston will be giving a talk in the churchyard about the wonderful and moving “St George’s Memorial Church in Ypres”, filled with memorials and banners.

On display are 54 war memorials from closed churches, chapels, factories and workingmen’s clubs. These have been saved from loss brought about by the change of use or even demolition of their original location.
All have story boards giving their history and in many cases tales of near escape from destruction and permanent destruction.
They are a key part of our heritage. The men named upon them deserve to have their sacrifice respected.
This year at noon on Saturday 13th a talk will be given about St George's memorial Church in Ypres. A place of great poignancy and meaning to so many British army units who fought in Flanders in The Great War.
The talk, subject to weather will be in the churchyard.
