A Grade II Victorian Gothic Revival Style listed building, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, completed in 1856. Eminent Victorian artist A.O Hemming designed the reredos, murals & roof paintings and the 3 stained glass windows in the Sanctuary.

Celebrating 170 Years at St James’ Church, New Brighton
This year St James' Church celebrates 170 years of worship, service and community life.
Designed by the renowned Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1856, this beautiful Grade II listed church is one of New Brighton’s most treasured landmarks. Visitors can admire the stunning stained glass, impressive architecture, and the remarkable artwork of Victorian artist A. O. Hemming, including the reredos, murals and sanctuary windows. The recently restored rose window is a particular highlight, filling the church with colour and light.
Families can also meet Jimmy Mouse and enjoy a simple trail around the church, helping younger visitors discover some of its hidden treasures.
