Dedicated to St. John the Apostle and Evangelist, St. John’s is a friendly, inclusive Anglo-Catholic church in the heart of Watford. The church dates back to 1873, with a rich, sacramental community history, with beautiful architecture, structural art, and items of beauty that serve both functional and aesthetic roles in creating a sacred environment.

Visitors have the opportunity to explore the notable features of our building, the historical architecture, and the items of beauty that have enhanced our worship for over 100 years, offering a unique opportunity to see our local history and church culture up close and personal. The beauty of our church is more than just for show; it serves as a sacred language that points toward the divine. From the geometry of our baptismal font, the stories in our stained glass, to the metals of our ecclesiastical items and the seasonal significance of our textiles, every detail in St. John’s carries history, intrigue, and theology. Look out for original features which have stood the test of time, sacred vessels, and textiles and vestments that reflect divine glory and reverence.
