Anyone walking through the churchyard and the church should note that the floor can be a little uneven in places, as is to be expected from an historical site.

Additional information

There has been Christian worship on this site since 1050. There is a Tudor font and stained glass windows including one which commemorates "The Old Contemptibles" - the British Expeditionary Force from the First World War, and one which commemorates Margate College. The church has an extensive collection of funeral hatchments. Church bells are rung regularly - an impressive ring of 8 bells. Reverend David Railton MC, the man behind the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, was vicar of St John's in the 1920s. A fine three manual pipe organ is still in use for services.
