St. John’s Village Hall
St. Johns Kingsdown Village Hall, Upper Street, Kingsdown, Kent, CT14 8BJ
After William’s death in 1850 his wife, Elizabeth, left Kingsdown to retire to Eastbourne. Before she left she gave the school to the church of St John’s the Evangelist also built by her husband. The building ran as a school until 1938 when it was finally closed and the children transferred to Ringwould school; but this wasn’t the end for the historic structure that had stood in the heart of the picturesque village of Kingsdown for so many years as it opened as the village hall in 1952.
An exhibit will show the story of the hall using a wide range of sources, including memories of local residents.
