The Catholic Cathedral has been a center of Catholic worship since 1850, featuring most of its original stained glass and statues and decorations. It was reordered in 2012 with a new Altar, Ambo, Cathedra and Baptismal Font. The Great East Window, dedicated to Mary, The Mother of God fills much of the east end. The Hallam window in the south transept was installed to commemorate to erection of the diocese of Hallam in 1980. there many splendid examples of Victorian tile work and a beautiful alabaster statue of a Guardian Angel at the entrance to a golden chapel dedicated to St Joseph. The 40 Martyrs of England and Wales are commemorated over the arches which hold up the barrel roof.
Guide books are available. The tower has a ring of eight bells capable of change ringing, one of few Catholic Churches able to do this.

The Sanctuary is NOT accessible to the public. The Cathedral is a place of worship and must be treated as such. No food or drink please. Mobiles can only be used for audio and photographs. The Lady Chapel is reached by a short spiral staircase
The church is open for private prayer and worship so please be respectful. Mass is celebrated during the day. please do not walk around while this is taking place. Guide books are available at the back of church and on the HODs display.
