St Mary Magdalene Willen - Measuring Hooke's Monument
St Mary Magdalene Church, Milton Road, Willen, MIlton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK15 9AB
The experiment tested Hooke’s idea that if he merged his knowledge of architecture with his passion for optics and astronomy, his monument to the Great Fire of London (1666) could be built to also measure the movement of the stars; find out why this didn’t work at this unique event.
Entry is free, but as the church is tiny, visitors must reserve a space. Reservations will be released on www.ticketsource.co.uk (see below) at midday 1st August.
