Explore this mediaeval church, a place of continuous worship for over a thousand years. On display - our history and people and a rich collection of church embroideries. Special this year for Leeds 400: short talks on "Going to church in 1626".

Come and explore our 15th century church building with elements dating back to the 12th century. On show will be a fine collection of kneelers, banners, church vestments and embroideries which have been created over the last hundred years by local people. The church embodies the everyday histories of people in our area across the years, including its connections to the families at Temple Newsam House. John Smeaton, builder of the Eddystone Lighthouse, prolific inventor and Father of Civil Engineering, lived and worked at Austhorpe and is commemorated at St Mary's.
As part of the special city-wide celebrations for the granting of the Leeds Charter in 1626, there will be displays and a special event:
"Going to church in 1626".
