St Mary's Church
St Mary's Church, St Mary's Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV31 1JN
St Mary's Church was designed in 1838-39 by J G Jackson and constructed almost entirely in a stucco finish, including the tower. It was known as 'The Church in the Field', as it stood alone in some fields in anticipation of the new Victorian housing which would soon follow as Leamington began to grow as a new Spa town.
In 1923, two stained glass windows were added to the church in the South Aisle. They portrayed
• the raising of Jairus' daughter from death.
• Mary at the feet of Jesus.
Two other windows were added in 1924.
St. Mary’s became a grade II listed building in 1970 due to the rendering on the external walls, which is considered to be a fine example of that building style in Victorian Leamington.
