St Mary's Church is in the heart of West Bank in Widnes and was designed by renowned Victorian architects Austin & Paley of Lancaster. It opened on 12th November 1910 and was consecrated by the bishop of Liverpool, Dr Francis Chevasse. It is Grade II* listed and is known as a ‘major church’ because of its size. For the same reason some call it the ‘little Cathedral’.
Gateway Community is a support organisation for people with learning difficulties based in Widnes. Their programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps community members reach their goals and fulfil their potential regardless of any difficulties / disabilities they may have.
