St Nicholas Church Bawtry Open Day and Bell Ringing
St Nicholas Church, Church Street, Bawtry, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN10 6HW
St Nicholas Church has undergone several stages of development since it was built in 1189 to serve a small village community, however the development has been conducted sensitively to leave the church still with many of its 12th Century features visible.
As well as looking around the church people have the opportunity to climb the spiral staircase to the ringing room in small groups of 2-3 (due to small space). The ringers will demonstrate ringing and there will be an opportunity to chime a bell and have a quick go at ringing.
The bells are the loudest, heaviest, unamplified musical instruments in the world. Now is your chance to come along and have a go,
