There will be a short talk on the history of the church followed by a guided walk around the church and the churchyard including the newly restored Lychgate and seven War Graves. The event will end with tea and homemade cakes in the Leverton Hall, finish by 4pm.
St. Peter’s Church, Wrecclesham was consecrated in 1840 in the flourishing village of Wrecclesham. It was almost totally rebuilt between 1861 and 1876, featuring unique chalk stone construction, known as clunch. The church has continued to evolve over the years and has several historic stained glass windows, a Victorian font and a Hunter organ.
In St. Peter’s Churchyard, the ‘Greening Wrecclesham’ project by Wrecclesham Conservation Group is ongoing in order to restore the churchyard as a respectful burial site as well as a green space for the community.
