St Peters Church Wolfhampcote Open Day
St Peter's Church, Wolfhampcote, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV23 8AR
This stunning 14th century church is the sole survivor of the lost village of Wolfhampcote, which lies buried to the north. It's tough exterior of crooked windows, stout buttresses and multi-coloured patchwork stone conceals an orderly and serene interior. Limewashed walls scatter light from huge windows on the church’s treasures including a beautifully carved fourteenth-century screen, a Queen Anne Royal Arms, a Victorian Hood mausoleum and a collection of oak benches dating between 1330 and 1360, one with unique end carvings. The beamed roof of the chancel is a rustic marvel to behold.
Since 1971 the Friends of Wolfhampcote have been working with the Churches Conservation Trust to fundraise to repair the neglect of St Peter’s caused by the ravages of time. The Friends latest project is “Bring Back the Light” to replace the polycarbonate windows with beautiful stained glass. Bring Back the Light video can be found at: https://youtu.be/GJwyvcIMx94

- To drive to the church you need to go along farm tracks and open farm gates. The route from Flecknoe is much kinder on your car than the route from Braunston. There is limited parking available next to the churchyard.

Accessibility details
Access to the entrance is via a mown path through the churchyard, reaching the west porch across a bumpy churchyard. There is one step down to an uneven porch and a further step down to the nave.
