St Stephen's Church, Lindley
St Stephen's Church, Lidget Street, Lindley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD3 3JB
Ever thought about sketching but didn’t know where to start? This is your perfect opportunity! Join us for a relaxed and welcoming drawing session at a beautiful Grade II listed church from 1829. Whether you haven’t drawn since school or have never picked up a sketchbook, this friendly event is made just for you. No pressure, no experience needed—just come along and enjoy being creative in a peaceful and inspiring setting. You can sketch whatever catches your eye: the stained glass windows, the font, or furnishings, or even relax outside and draw the bell tower or Lindley Clock Tower. We’ll have local artists offering gentle guidance in small groups (around 4 people), helping you look at simple shapes, materials, structure, and perspective. You can also try something different, like making rubbings of old church memorials and discovering the beautiful patterns and lettering styles of the past.
Two easy-going drop in sessions: 1030–1230 or 1300–1500
Two age groups: 7–16 and 16+
Just bring yourself—we’ll provide the encouragement! Whether you leave with a finished sketch or just a smile, this is all about having fun, trying something new, and enjoying a day out in a truly special place. Materials will be provided but if you wish please bring your own, and a stool or fold up chair.
Come curious and leave inspired! Refreshments will be available together with artefacts and written materials on display for any visitors.
