The beautiful historic church of St Wilfrid's Halton will be open on Saturday 12th September 2026 from 10.30am - 4pm.

Come and discover the beauty and history of St Wilfrid's church, Halton, one of the area's most historic and treasured buildings.
Explore the church with it's stained glass windows, roman font and ancient carvings and learn about its fascinating heritage and enjoy a welcoming day out for all ages.
Highlights of the day: the Sigurd Cross: See the remarkable Sigurd Cross, a unique and imposing stone cross in the churchyard. Its carvings combine Viking and Christian imagery and depict scenes form the legend of Sigurd the Dragon Slayer, making it one of the most significant monuments of its kind. Tower tours: Take a guided climb up the 16 Century tower and enjoy spectacular views across Lancaster, Lune Valley and surrounding countryside. Children's activities: Fun activities throughout the day for younger visitors. Refreshments: Light refreshments available all day. Cake and craft stalls: Browse a variety of homemade cakes and locally made crafts. A place for reflection: Find a moment of peace in this beautiful church and light a candle in memory of a loved one. Admission free. Everyone is welcome.
