Unitarian Meeting House

The oldest non-conformist meeting house/chapel in N. Staffordshire, still serving a faith community to this day. Built in 1717 in the shadow of the Parish Church (St Giles), the original building dated c. 1650 and was burnt down by a rioting mob. Attended by master potter Josiah Wedgwood and Joseph Priestley: chemist, theologian and discoverer of oxygen.
Charles Darwin is also known to have visited.

Arrangements have been made for Penkhull Village Brass Band to play at intervals during the stated opening hours on Saturday 13th. September. They will be located outside in the churchyard between the Meeting House & St. Giles Parish Church, which will also be open for Heritage Open Day.
