Step back in time: The history of Folkestone's Town Cross and its predecessors.

The Churchyard of the Parish Church of St Mary and St Eanswythe, Church Street, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 1SE

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Gathering on the steps of the town cross, just as many have done for countless centuries, you get a flavour of the heritage of the town that is rooted to this one single spot.

An illustrated talk on a history that goes right back to a time just after the Romans left and has influenced the growth of not just the town but the nation itself. Mystery and intrigue; power and politics; and religious intolerance have all played out on this very spot. Limiting the group size to no more than ten per session, will ensure that everyone can be involved in what should be a lively and informal discussion.
