Stories from the Stones

Greengate Street, Stafford, Staffordshire, ST16 2HP

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

St Chad's architecture has changed almost every century since its foundation. Stories from the stones, and woodwork and coloured glass, explain the reasons for its creation and its continuation through to the present day.

HODs 2025 at St Chad's will be an exciting visitor experience. A wealth of information about the building of the Norman church will be available including a timeline of the church's development, leaflets available in several languages, a mouse trail for children, a quiz trail for young people to solve the mystery puzzling members of the congregation and guided tours. Specially produced short films will also be shown. The latest of these will show in detail how the church was built and how the structure has changed over the centuries into the surprisingly complex building we see today. This film also includes close ups of many of the wonderful details that can be difficult to see from floor level. Fundamental to the church's continuous and evolving existence is the Christian story and the centuries of worship since it was founded through to the present day.
