Explore our beautiful Grade II listed, neo-gothic building. Built in 1879 by philanthropists John and Enriqueta Rylands for the people of Stretford, the hall was awarded to the Friends group in 2014, following a passionate campaign to keep it public.

Join us for a day of discovery, conversation and community! Our doors will be open for you to explore the rich history of Stretford Public Hall.
Free guided tours of the building will run throughout the afternoon. Discover and explore the hall’s hidden corners; learn about the hall’s fascinating past, and find out what’s planned for its future. Have a chat with Enriqueta Rylands!
Talks by local historians, film shows and displays will illustrate the hall’s long and vibrant past, highlighting key events and activities held in the hall over the years.
Entrance and all activities are free. We will also run a tombola and a cafe to raise funds for our heritage project - bring a little cash to try your luck and our home-made cakes.

Share your memories of the hall with us! We’d love to hear about your personal connections to the hall and find out more about the organisations and communities who used the hall over the past 150 years. Please contribute your stories, photos, and memories of the hall to help preserve its legacy.

Children will be able to participate in a number of Victorian-themed craft activities. Look out for some circus tricks, too!
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re curious about the building, interested in volunteering, or just fancy a cuppa.
The hall can be hired for private events, such as weddings, birthday celebrations and business meetings, come and see what we can offer.
