Celebrate Heritage Open Days 2025 in Swindon’s historic Railway Village on Saturday 13th September! Enjoy a packed day of FREE activities from 10 AM to 4 PM that showcase the area’s rich past, vibrant present, and promising future—brought to life through heritage buildings and passionate volunteers.
The Cricketers’ Arms: Visit the Grade II listed building (14 Emlyn Square) undergoing restoration. Learn about its history as a pub and the restoration project currently underway.
The Bakers’ Café: Former bakery turned community café (16 Emlyn Square) offering cake and refreshments for donations. We will also be opening our Archive Room within The Bakers’ where you will be able to view some highlights of our unique archive collection.
Railway Village Museum: Join us to step back in time at the cottage to discover Victorian traditions. Witness the sights, sounds and smells of local community life through our living Museum (34 Faringdon Road).
Guided Heritage Walks: Departing from The Bakers’ at 11 AM, 1 PM & 3 PM, explore local landmarks like GWR Park and the Health Hydro. Pre-booking preferred.
Central Community Centre: Enjoy children's activities, a tombola, and artwork reflecting the Village’s past at this former armoury-turned-hospital (Emlyn Square).

Accessible access varies across our buildings. The Cricketers' & The Railway Village Museum have partial wheelchair access to the ground floor only. The Bakers' and Central Community Centre both have full wheelchair access.
