We all love a slice of cake, but what can they tell us about our social history? Working with the WI, Poynton Town Council present a delicious event, where you can try different pieces of cake... and find out the story behind them!

Cakes across the Decades brings together history and cake. Working with the WI, Poynton Town Council have selected recipes with interesting stories, which we will work together to recreate and offer you a taste of! How did the Victoria Sponge shape how we see afternoon tea now? What was Winston Churchill's favourite cake? Collect your 'Cake Archive' menu then sit down with a cuppa, take a bite and find out!

This year's Heritage Open Days theme is 'Everyday Histories' - the stories of working lives. Who was in our kitchens? Who made our food? How did that food shape society?

Come along for a piece cake (or several) and take away some memorable stories too.
