Talk & Glide: Taster Trip on MK Community Boat Electra with A Short History of MK Canals
Campbell Wharf, MIlton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK9 4BG
Join the volunteer shore crew in the Electra Welcome Centre for a 25-minute, illustrated history of why and how the Grand Union canal – and its “arms” - came to be built through the area that is now Milton Keynes. There are seven generations of history to MK Canals, from their start to their heyday, from their decline to their revival, and now their repurposing to meet the needs of the future. Then move onto MK Community Boat Electra to experience modern electric boating on a 25-minute circular cruise on the Grand Union canal. We pass the start of the proposed new Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Park that will link the Grand Union Canal in Milton Keynes with the River Great Ouse in Bedford, and go under the iconic new 3-way canal bridge. Cruises are run by volunteer Skippers and Cabin Hosts.
