The Temple-Cox Museum & Library is an archive that has been several decades in the making. Part collection of objects and reference books, part immersive installation.

Lisa Temple-Cox is an artist and independent researcher whose work explores interstices: between science and religion, the normal and the pathological, the familiar and the uncanny. Central to her practice is her search for identity and sense of belonging as a mixed-race post-colonial child. She is fascinated by Vanitas as both categorisation and as a symbol of the changing states of life.

Lisa's current research interests include an Arts Council funded artistic exploration of the Malay Archipelago. Using Alfred Russel Wallace's book as a catalyst to unpack both her Malay/English heritage, interest in natural history, and visual research in museum collections, she is considering decolonisation as a structure for artistic experimentation.

Her work examines subjective experiences and perceptions of the body in life and death using a range of media, including drawing, assemblage, and installation. She has developed her professional practice as both visual artist and researcher over the past 25 years. During this time she has been commissioned by public organisations and private individuals making artwork for institutions as varied as schools, hospitals, museums, libraries, and even public conveniences. She is a practised speaker and workshop leader, and has undertaken a number of artist residencies in Europe and the USA.
