The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin, Nuneaton
The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin, Manor Court Road, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 5HU
The Abbey has an exciting history, starting as life as a Benedictine Priory in the 1100s! It is now a parish church under the episcopal oversight of the See of Oswestry, within the Diocese of Coventry
At 09:30 there will be a service of Holy Half Hour - 30 minutes of silent prayer, concluding with a short Benediction (blessing) at 10:00.
Then we are open from 10:30 to 13:00, with tea/coffee and biscuits available all day. The historical archive of photographs, pew sheets, letters, and books will be available to view, not only about the Abbey but also about the surrounding streets, schools, and other organisations linked to the Abbey. Volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions and guide you through the ruins within our grounds. You may be able to help identify some of the faces in our many photographs.
History guidebooks are available to purchase at £5 each, and the Abbey has a craft stall where items made by our community are available to buy.
There will be places to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and chat to others, as well as a quiet space in the chancel to pray.
All are very welcome to come and learn about the importance of the Abbey in Nuneaton and our traditional worship style.
