The Architecture of the Self: Building the Brain Through Relationships
Carrow House, 301, King Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 2TG
Tend Collective Community Interest Company was established to enhance the mental and emotional health of children and young people in Norfolk by supporting the adults in their lives. Research shows that strong, safe relationships with trusted adults are essential for young people's developing mental health. At Tend Collective, we offer practical and therapeutically informed support to caregivers and professionals to help foster the wellbeing of the children and young people in their care.
One of the ways we do this is through providing affordable rooms to hire in a central Norfolk location for creative arts therapists and other mental health professionals. These are calm and inviting therapeutic spaces equipped with play and art materials. When therapists have rooms that are easy to access, they can spend less time setting up and more time providing therapy to children and young people who need it.
For the Heritage Open Day, we are inviting members of the public into our creative therapy spaces. Learn about the way that our brains are built from the bottom up starting from conception through to adulthood. We will take visitors on a tour of the "downstairs" and "upstairs" brains in each of our therapy spaces as we think about the important ways that relationships form the scaffolding for the development of the self. At the end of the tour, participants will be invited to create something special that celebrates the important relationships in their lives.
