St John's Dewsbury Moor celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2023 and will again be open on Sat 19th Sept 26 from 1100 - 1500 for history, ancestry and activities including a choir and a range of tabletop items.

Come and see our spectacular stained glass windows and delve into the church's history through our extensive archive and online access, which includes a chime of 8 bells with an extremely interesting history. See the photographs of old Dewsbury and discuss with historians from Dewsbury Sacrifices those who served and died in the two World Wars.

Look at the history of gifts donated to St John's over 200 years and investigate our churchyard highlighting people of interest and influence.
Sit and have a drink with perhaps a cake and biscuits as you enjoy music and St John's School choir and this year a range of specialist table top items for sale.

Accessibility details

The area around the church is uneven and can prove difficult for wheelchair uses. There may be restricted access around the base of the tower due to repairs.

We have an extensive archive about St John's Church and photographs on screen of Old Dewsbury. During our opening times we will be entertained by a school choir and there will be specialist table top items for sale.
